“The Innkeepers” was produced by Glass Eye Pix, a NY city company helmed by West Shokan resident Larry Fessenden The film tells of the last two employees of the old haunted The Yankee Pedlar Hotel, which is to close its doors in the near future. “Year after year Woodstock proves to be one of the most exciting destinations for independent film,” says Ti West. “Thrilled to be back!” “Woodstock is a very special film festival for us at Glass Eye Pix,” producer Peter Phok explains. “We’ve been blessed to have a film at WFF almost every year since 2001 – and our tradition continues. Looking forward to sharing “The Innkeepers” our latest with the wonderful audiences of the Hudson Valley community!!” “Even Ti who tends to be anxious about things couldn’t help but admitting that it was a really good time,” Fessenden told Fearnet. “And Sara Paxton is outstanding as the lead and Kelly McGillis who we worked with on “Stake Land” is in it. We filmed it in a real haunted hotel so we had help from the spirits. We shot it in 35mm, which is a tribute to Ti. Our approach is to see what the director wants and let’s try to make that happen. Nowadays wanting to shoot film is an eccentric request at this budget but we made it happen and we’re very proud of that.” Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, Ti West attended New York’s School of the Visual Arts (SVA), where he met producer Larry Fessenden through one of his teachers (filmmaker Kelly Reichardt). In 2005 Fessenden executive-produced West’s first feature film, the ’70s style horror thriller “The Roost.” West’s next two horror thrillers, 2007’s “Trigger Man” and 2008’s “House of the Devil” were both met with high praise and festival awards. Prior to beginning production on “The Innkeepers,” West wrote, produced and directed the online series “Dead & Lonely” in 2009 for IFC Films, concerning an awkward first date between a newly single young man and a shapely but shy female vampire. Both films screen as part of FRIGHT NIGHT on September 23 at the Woodstock Playhouse and again at separate venues. “Another Kind’ at Upstate Films in Rhinebeck on 9/24 at 10pm and “The Innkeepers” at the Rosendale Theater on 9/24 at 9pm (via 2011 Woodstock Film Festival presents FRIGHT NIGHT)
